Strapping Equipment Common Pain Point “Debris Buildup”
Here’s images of a PAC SM65 strapping machine that has had no cleaning in months and has started having strap sealing and feeding issues.
Using compressed air to blow out strap dust every day or
every other day will address one of the most common pain points in strapping
equipment: debris buildup.
The PAC SM65 strapping machine requires minimal, mostly
tool-free maintenance, centered on regular cleaning of the strapping head,
tracks, and rollers using compressed air to prevent debris buildup. Daily care
involves blowing out the cutter and track areas, while weekly or monthly checks
focus on lubrication, specifically using non-resinous oil, and inspecting wear
parts like tensioners.
Key Maintenance Procedures:
Cleaning: Use compressed air to clean the strapping head and
guide tracks daily. The hinged top allows for quick, tool-free access for
thorough cleaning.
Lubrication: Keep strap guides and drive rollers free from
grease. Use non-resinous, SAE 30 lubricant on necessary components.
Inspection: Regularly check for debris around the cutter and
guide areas to avoid jams.
Components: Replace wear parts such as tensioners, cutters,
and heaters as needed.
Always turn the main power switch to "O" (OFF) and
allow the heater to cool for at least 5 minutes before servicing.
