Corrugated Box Flute Types

Image
Corrugated Flutes are the S shaped waves/arches of a corrugated box that makes up the board. This is called the boards corrugation. Flutes are essentially the reinforcement that make up the board. They run parallel to the depth of the container and give it its rigidity and crushing/stacking strength. As well as providing stacking strength, flutes also provide insulation that protects products from sudden temperature changes. Generally speaking, larger flutes like A & B profile provide greater strength and cushioning, while smaller flute profiles like D & E provide better printability and foldability. B flutes have 42-50 flutes per foot and are 1/8″ thick. They provide the second highest arch size. B flutes provide good stacking strength and crushing resistance. Ideally used for canned goods and displays. C flutes have 39-43 flutes per foot and are 11/64″ thick. They are the medium between A flute and B flute and are very common. C flutes provide good cus...

Preventative Maintenance for Arch Strapping Machines

Image
Automatic arch strapping machines with more moving parts and electronic components, automatic machines require a bit more attention. Checklist: Daily: Clear strap dust and debris from the machine – particularly near the cutters and strap guide. Remove plastic residue. Weekly: Lubricate the front bar, press bar and rear bar. Monthly: Check all belts and gears for wear and tear. Clean both sides of the heater plate. Check cam rollers of seal head for easy movement. Slide table back to home position automatically by the spring tension. Clean any debris in the tension roller. Every 6 Months: Perform a deep clean and test all sensors for accuracy. Check the heater plate and make sure the connector at the wiring loom to the printed circuit board is firmly fixed. Pro Tip: Keep an eye on the sealing head – any dirt buildup can reduce the strength of your strap seals! General Best Practices for All Strapping Machines. Keep It Clean: Dust and strap residue can wreak h...

How to Prevent Rust with VCI Packaging

Image
As a company selling metal products, one of the last things you need is to find that rust has begun to damage their surfaces. The next stage is corrosion, which can have serious consequences for the quality of the products. If you want to prevent rust, you will need powerful rust-prevention packaging. If you’ve ever seen the effects of rust and corrosion, you’ll know they can cause frustrating problems. However, there are plenty of packaging solutions that can keep those metal surfaces in an excellent state. Check the range of recommended volatile corrosion inhibitor solutions below to prevent corrosion. VCI paper sheets are excellent rust-prevention solutions. They feature vapor corrosion inhibitors combined with kraft paper with a neutral ph. This packaging material works for ferrous and non-ferrous metals, and the hard work of cutting the sheets to size has been done for you. You wrap the VCI paper sheets around each metal part or product before placing them in enclosed sh...
