OPP Film Prices on Strapping Tape went up $0.16 per pound and the Adhesive also increased $0.06 and $0.08 per pound. All other Polyethylene Products are going up 5% effective 2/18/13 order placed after 2/15/13 will be billed at new prices.

The January $.05/lb price increase is essentially secured according to sellers; however, buyers will beg to differ and the market on average has thus far rallied only $.03/lb. Indeed spot Ethylene costs have soared ,but film makers contend that Polyethylene resin producers are mostly integrated and are enjoying huge margins.

Film Processors were not eager to jump at the offers, claiming slow business to begin the year and ample inventories from hefty Nov/Dec purchases. Still with spot monomer costs surging, producers were not willing to budge on price and maintained their intent to implement the nickel increase. January 4, 2013 Dear Valued Customer, Due to rising feedstock costs, and improving global and domestic market demand, our resin suppliers have informed us of their intentions to implement a resin increase effective January 1st. In addition to this January increase, some suppliers have also announced another increase of $.04 effective February 1st which we will monitor and address at a later date. In response to the January 1st resin increase, all new orders received on or after January 28th will be priced at a 6% increase. All orders must call for immediate delivery. Based on current lead-times and shortness of resin supply, we can only accept a limited number of new orders and will be limited to less than one month of your normal purchase levels. Pricing for orders accepted is based upon local lead-times and available resin. Sigma Stretch Film reserves the right to accept or decline all orders for any reason.
