For the most part, Generic Prime railcars remain elusive, although some material began to appear at the end of the week. Resin and stretch film pricing

The commodity resin markets continued to rise and spot offerings dwindled to very low levels into month-end. Polyethylene and Polypropylene prices both added a penny, driven by already tight supplies along the Petrochemical chain which were further restricted by Hurricane Isaac. Although the storm passed through the Gulf without causing much reported damage to plants, most Crude Oil and Natural Gas platforms were shut in and several Petrochemical complexes also closed or ran at reduced output levels. The vast majority of these facilities have now resumed or are in the process of returning to normal production. August PE contracts were up $.03 - .05/lb depending on producer, while PP contracts slid $.015/lb. There are price increases nominated for both materials for September.
