Trade reports July 2014
AUGUST INCREASE - "if the export market heats up again,
Polyethylene could potentially take another leg higher. There were price
increases issued months ago, but the amounts were not consistent amongst
producers; we would not be surprised to see some oldies get cancelled and fresh
nominations issued for August"
LLDPE Today: Ready to move higher
LLDPE ROLLS STEADY - "Polyethylene continued to price
steady at levels seen for at least the past month"
HARD TO FIND TRUCKS - "Continued logistics challenges
are certainly noteworthy; shipping costs remain elevated and trucks/drivers
have been hard to find."
PE FLAT - "Polyethylene trading was lighter than
average and prices were flat."
INVENTORIES TIGHT - "resin inventories are actually
above average, market conditions feel at least balanced, if not a little
tight."
BUCKING DECREASE - "Producers kept PE contract prices
flat March through June, bucking processor calls for a decrease,"
EXPORT PRICES FIRM - "International resin prices have
been firming, prompting increased export interest."
