RESIN MARKET TODAY – SENDING A MIXED MESSAGE
The Dow Chemical Company - Polyethylene Price Notification Effective October 1, 2015
US Dow is saying up 7c/lb on October 1st
U.S. PE Market says we are down $0.04 in September.
"resin market activity improved, transactional volume rose and prices were mixed"
"Export markets are seeing sporadic activity, but volumes seem to be strong as the Houston resin warehouses are jammed full of material, presumably along with orders for international shipment – if not, watch out!"
"Polyethylene trading was much better, a fairly high volume of material changed hands"
"Prices seemed to find support early in the week and even up-ticked $.01/lb as good"
"bearishness returned to the PE arena as another wave of material hit the market, sending most grades down a net penny"
"Polyethylene contracts still seem to be settling down the $.04/lb nominated early in the month."
PE PRICES STEADY "Polyethylene prices were steady on average, although we noticed a certain level of firmness starting to enter the market."
COMPELLING LLDPE RESIN "considering the proposed $.04/lb September decrease, PE prices are now down $.13/lb during 2015. Resin is starting to appear compelling at these reduced levels."
LLDPE SEPTEMBER DOWN "Several Polyethylene producers offered to reduce September contracts by $.04/lb."
