Sealing Plastic Strap.

Strapping Closures - Sealing Plastic Strap.

Strapping can be made from a variety of materials. Each one of those materials can be beneficial to a variety of applications. Different types of plastic and metal strapping can use different closures to help seal and secure loads. We offer a large variety of polypropylene and polyester strapping products. The most common type of strapping closures for plastic strapping are wire buckles & heat or friction sealing.

Metal Seals- Metal seals for plastic strapping come in open seals and closed seals. Open seals are by far the most common

Open Strapping Seal type of metal seals. Open seals allow users to easily slide the buckle over the plastic strapping after tensions has been applied. Once the buckle is positioned properly, a sealing tool can be used to close and tighten the open seal around the plastic strapping.

We offer the open seals in both smooth and serrated seals. The smooth seals are the most popular and are commonly used with polypropylene strapping and lighter polyester strapping applications. The open serrated seals offer the ability to apply additional friction to the strapping once closed. They are designed for smooth polyester strapping products, but can also be used with embossed polypropylene strapping.

Closed seals need to be threaded on before the strapping is applied, therefore not making them as time efficient as open seals. The advantage to closed seals are the ability to help keep the plastic strapping in line when applying tension. Once tension is applied to the strapping, the closed seal is easily pushed closed to seal the strapping.

Heat Seals- Heat or friction seals are used with battery operated hand-held tools, semi-automatic, and fully automatic machines. They can be used with both polyester and polypropylene strapping. The advantage to heat sealing strapping is not having to continually buy wire buckles for sealing. The disadvantage is the welding or heating process can take longer than the closure of wire buckles.

Most all machines use a heat sealing method for closure. The heat or friction seal can be adjusted on different sealing machines depending on the type of strapping material being used and the strength of the seal needed. Pneumatic, electric-powered, and battery-powered machines commonly use a friction or heat seal
